A common way organizations try to increase efficiency is by treating employees like interchangeable parts of a machine-like system. It’s one of many common strategies organizations adopt to increase efficiency, but these strategies don’t create or maintain alignment between departments or teams, so the ultimately fail.

Instead of treating employees like machines, one of the best ways to increase organization efficiency is to structure your organization’s workflow around everyone, making sure everyone knows their role in the larger system.
